Sales and Coupons

Walgreens has Blink eye drops for $8 if you use the coupons that came out earlier this month for $1 off you get back $8 in Register Rewards.

CVS has Puffs tissues on sale forr $.88 per box, use the P&G January coupons before they expire on 1-31-12 get $.25 off 3 boxes limit 6 boxes and Dawn small bottle is $.98 with same P&G flyer coupons use the $.25 off.

Food Town has 14oz bottle French’s mustard for $.88 with earlier month’s coupons for $.50 that makes this item $.38. Now that’s this a good stockpile item for the summer months. Walmart sells the same bottle for $1.08 regular.

Kroger ad with mega sale will continue into this coming full week so you have time to get your items together. Remember if you ad match at walmart no limit on items but if you just want to go to Kroger then you can only do 40 items per transaction at a time. Their registers will not roll the mega deals $5 off 10 items past 40 items so you will have to do separate transactions for more. Bonus of taking this ad to Walmart is they will be better stocked and you won’t have to stick to the 40 item or less limit.

Things you can do with Peroxide

Did you know the best way to clean animal urine out of your carpets is to use straight peroxide you can get from any store? I have teal colored carpeting and I use it full strength to get the puppy pee out of my carpets and you can get right down to the floor and smell and you would never know that they ever had an accident.

Best way to get it all up is using a steam vac but if you don’t have one just spray it down lightly and use a towel little by little to get it out.

I am hoping to clean my carpets today. I will try to get pictures posted of the before and after effects.

Current Ads and Shopping

Okay folks I am way behind my plans for posting this due to a nasty stomach flu bug that became rampant throughout my household this week but here it is even if it is a little late.

The beginning of the mega sales for SuperBowl have it! Kroger has a good sale to be ad matching at walmart, as does Foodtown. Now is the time to stock up on condiments like ketchup and mustard.  It’s also time to stock up on Hunt’s tomatoes by ad matching Kroger’s ad to Walmart and Daisy sour cream, kraft singles cheese (unless like me you stocked up heavily with the last foodtown ad at the lower price) Hormel Chili is another good stocking item and there were coupons for all of these in the Sunday inserts if you’ve been hoarding and organizing them correctly.

HEB has their boneless/skinless chicken breasts on sale for $1.97 per lb and that’s a good deal and good stocking item. I have found a new wholesaler for chicken and beef and next time they have a sale I will buy some and let you all know the quality and pricing. You do need a deep freeze to use them as the chicken comes in a 40lb box (bulk) and runs $1.69 per lb so $67.60 a box but you can’t get that price anywhere.

Their ground beef is fine ground and comes 93/7 lean also in a 40lb box. I’m told it runs about $119 per case/box and runs about $2.69 per lb and again you can’t get that price tag anywhere else locally. Regionally available items so nothing shipped in from somewhere you’ve never heard of and all their items have good reviews. Company is called Zaycon Foods.

Evaporated Milk conversion

If you are making a recipe and would rather not use the tons of milk it calls for, example Hamburger Helper calls for lots of milk, here is a short note on converting it back to regular milk to make using the canned version more budget friendly.

Take 1 cup of evaporated milk and add back in enough water to equal 2 1/4 cups.

Hope this helps for those with small budgets.

The Turkey Sales Have Hit!

For everyone wanting a good turkey for Thanksgiving…I got all my sales today early and the turkey sales have hit! If you don’t want to go near a store next week, get your shopping list in order and check off what you do need and get it bought now.

I do not go near stores Thanksgiving week except during the day and not at all after Wednesday noon. It’s everyone’s mad dash time and I hate it and personally I can’t deal with how rude people can get in the stores so it’s just nicer to know I’ve made my entire cooking/eating schedule and don’t have to go.

Kroger also will have their asparagus on sale for $1.88 per pound so I’ll be ad matching at Walmart since we’re craving the good sweet green stuff.  I also went into my arch nemisis (kroger) tonight for a last minute mega sale run and found 2 blinkie machines. I snatched all the Free milk coupons I could (get free milk when you buy 4 GM cereals) and all the $2 off charmin I could as well. Those coupons will pay for themselves. Charmin doesn’t expire until Jan 2012 and Milk expires around 12/11/11. Grab some if you get the chance.

Cashier Issues and Coupon Policies

When we did our large trip to Wal-Mart on Saturday if was a good experience and then we got to the check-out. Now that was a whole other experience.

I’ve run into the same problem before and usually it’s at this store BUT I will be the first to tell you that if you handle it correctly things will be properly handled in your favor and all your hard work will pay off.

When I have multiple ad matching I separate ALL my orders in my basket to make everything easier. I also paper-clip all my coupons to the ads they apply to and if I have coupons that are just by themselves and not involved in ad matching I keep them clipped separately as well. This really cuts down on mass confusion overall and everything goes faster.

When I handed the cashier my ‘stack’ of coupons I knew the whole transaction was not going to go well. Why you might ask? She started reading the fine print on the first coupon and making sure I had bought the item. She did this with each and every coupon. I understand they are required to check the coupons but when you are talking about 23 plus coupons this can take a long time. Mind you I spent 3 days organizing for this trip, with ad matching and pulling coupons out of my binder and to question all 23 coupons is a bit much.

Then I got the ‘your just stealing from the store’ attitude, and apparently that wasn’t bad enough. 2 different customer service managers got called on and the first one didn’t even look at the coupons she just told me ‘you can’t use those’ and really threw her attitude in my face. The second one told me how I wasn’t allowed to use dog biscuit coupons and stack them at the same time. I remained calm and said ‘your coupon policy does allow that to be done as long as I purchase one of the products and I bought the required 6 boxes to get the 3 free bags’ oh no you’re not allowed to do that. Then the same csm said fine she would ‘allow’ it, like she’s doing me a favor and scans and pounds the keypad.

After we left I looked at our receipt and realized she had not taken but 2 of the 5 dog biscuit coupons off AT ALL like she said. When we got home and unloaded everything and put it all away and organized it, I took my receipt, my copy of their coupon policy (I also highlighted where it said I COULD DO IT) every box and package of dog biscuits and I went back for my money.

I found a manager first off, lucky me, and I simply showed her my receipt and explained what I did and asked if it was allowed. Her first response was YES, per their policy IT WAS ALLOWED, second response she gave was WHO ALL WAS INVOLVED? I told her and I also informed her of the bad attitudes we got. She had the return cashier (who did know me and how hard I work for my savings legitamately) re-do the dog biscuit transaction and the manager went and got the coupons from the cashier who was still on duty and they fixed it all. Now towards the end of all of this the last csm actually came behind the counter with the cashier doing the transaction and made it a point to say to me ‘came back to return it all I see’ it was not to her benefit to do that. The cashier not only told her I could do it but showed her my copy of their coupon policy to prove it and showed her that she did not take my coupons off as she clearly stated she did. Her fatal mistake was coping another attitude right then and there and she didn’t see that manager come around the other end of the counter and look at me and point at the csm. I shook my head yes and that csm and the cashier both got called in the back office for a nice chat. She gave me her name and said she has no tolerance for employees treating coupon customers that bad and next time I have a problem (she gave me her name and schedule each week) tell the cashier to call her and nobody esle.

I also got a short list of the cashiers that are better to use with coupons.

Being vindicated felt really good and they ended up owing me $12.34 back that I knew we’d been shorted off the bill. There is no reason for bad attitudes with couponers who work so hard for our savings. We will stand up for our rights and not take it!

The one thing that really saved me was HAVING MY COUPON POLICIES HANDY FOLKS, keep those binders organized.
